How to apply to study dentistry in the Netherlands
The individual, independant private dentist study in The Netherlands is extremely demanding. The graduate student has to complete the 6-year full master degree academic degree path. It includes the preliminary 3-year bachelor’s degree course programme.
An annual “numerus fixus” (upper entry limit) & selective admission lottery applies too.
In total there are about 260 places together awarded each year. Only 3 universities in Amsterdam, Groningen and Nijmegen offer a complete dentistry programme. In addition, each university employs different and independant “decentralised admission” policy and selection procedures too.
Criteria for Qualification:
In order to be admitted applicats should have excellent grades in the following subjects during secondary school: VWO = Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (Preparatory Scientific Education). The qualifying specialisation options are:
- Diploma with profile of Nature & Technology + Biology, or
- Diploma with profile of Nature & Health + Physics
