Study tuition free in Austria
Students in Austria do in general not pay tuition fee.
Students are exempt from paying tuition fees if they do not exceed the standard duration of the degree programme including two additional semesters (non-contributory period) if they belong to any of the following groups:
Austrian citizens;
EU and EEA citizens;
Swiss citizens;
refugees under the Refugee Convention;
non-EU foreign nationals with a permanent residence permit for Austria or another EU member state;
non-EU foreign nationals who receive a study grant;
Private universities in Austria can however charge a tuition fee.
